Meet the Principal

WELCOME TO CARLIN C. COPPIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

Hello Coppin Families,

My name is Julie Stearn and I am the fortunate person that gets to be the Principal at Carlin C. Coppin. This will be my 28th year in Education. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 4th Grade for 20 years and this will be my 8th year as a Principal. I am truly excited for our 2022/23 school year.  My philosophy is to put kiddos first and to base our decisions on what is best for them. I also believe that education is a team effort. Families, Staff and myself need to work together to create an environment that helps our kiddos reach their full potential, have a positive experience, have fun and be happy. I love to celebrate our students' achievements and work with them to be the best human being they can be.  We will send out weekly updates with information about upcoming events and what is happening at Coppin. Lastly, I believe in an open door policy where you can email me, call or stop by if you have any concerns, questions or just want to say hello. 
Here at Coppin we will continue to make learning a priority. We will give everyone the opportunity to share thoughts, opinions and ideas without fear of judgment.  We will have positive attitudes, relationships, and connections with all students, staff and families. And we will communicate responsibly and respectfully. 
Starting this year I will be having “Principal’s Coffee” where families can sit down with me, have some coffee and treats and talk about all the wonderful things happening here at Coppin. Our first Principal Coffee will be Monday, August 22nd at 9 a.m. in our Conference Room in the office. Hope you can join me. 
On a personal note I just celebrated my 27th anniversary with my amazing husband Matt. We have two wonderful children, Brianna and Jaden. Brianna graduated from Chico State in May 2021 and purchased a house here in Lincoln. We followed her to be closer to her. Our son Jaden will be a Junior at Chico State. We have one adorable dog, Tallulah. I love to travel, read, spend time with my family and friends and learn new things. 
I am looking forward to working with the fabulous Coppin Staff, families and students. The 2022-23 school year is going to be wonderful and we can’t wait to get it started.
