Our School Library is participating in 2021 California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) program. We've participated in the last two years by reading and voting in the library. This year I am visiting classes, recording stories in my Storytime channel and sharing 2 of the books in Epic.  My Epic class code is vxd4100. More info about voting in March (All voting will be most likely done online)

Here's a quick summary on how CYRM program works.
Each year five picture books are nominated by librarians, teachers, and students in the primary category. The librarian (or teacher) reads to students the nominated books and then students vote for their favorite. In our school I introduce the nominated books to our students and conduct the voting. Last year (2020) the winner in our school was "Can I be your dog?". The winner in our state was "The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors" (2nd place in our school)

Here are the five picture books nominated for 2021 year:
After the fall   The day you begin

Here are three picture books for older readers nominated this year for the CYRM award. This is a category for 4th and 5th grade readers as the stories are more mature and the AR quizzes for the books are on a higher reading level.

Once students read all three they can vote for their favourite :) I'll share voting forms in about 2-3 weeks.

I think all the titles nominated this year are wonderful and our students can learn so much by reading them! Enjoy!
